Danmark og Irland – 50 år i EU

Danmark og Irland – 50 år i EU

Join us for an interactive panel discussion marking the 50th anniversary of Ireland and Denmark’s membership of the EU and looking ahead to the EU of the future.

The Embassy of Ireland in Denmark, together with The Danish European Movement, are delighted to invite you to a seminar marking the 50th anniversary of Denmark’s and Ireland’s membership of the EU and looking ahead to the future, including in the context of EU enlargement.

The Secretary General of Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Joe Hackett, will deliver opening remarks, followed by a panel discussion with State Secretary for European Affairs & the Arctic, Jonas Bering Liisberg; Jens-Kristian Lütken, Chairman of European Movement Denmark; and Christine Nissen, Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).

The discussion will be moderated by Professor Marlene Wind, Director of the Centre of European Politics at Copenhagen University. The panel will share perspectives on Denmark’s and Ireland’s EU journeys, and look ahead to the EU of the future, including in the context of enlargement.

Afterwards, we invite you to view the exhibition “Ireland and the Birth of Europe” which tells the story of Ireland’s influence on the development of learning and political thought in medieval Europe.

This event will be free and open to all, but space will be limited and registration will be on a first come first served basis.
