Join us for a panel discussion on European Union enlargement at a crucial juncture in Europe’s future, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the accession of Spain and Portugal.
The Embassies of Spain and Portugal and the Representation of the EU Commission in Denmark, together with Think Tank Europa, are delighted to invite you to a panel discussion on EU enlargement with:
- Jonas Bering Liisberg, Secretary of State for European Affairs & the Arctic
- Fernando Sampedro Marcos, Spanish State Secretary for the European Union
- Joao Maria Cabral, Ambassador of Portugal to Denmark
- Per Haugaard, Head of the European Commission’s Representation in Denmark
- Iben Tybjaerg Schake-Barfoed, Chief of Staff and Communications of Think Tank Europa
In the current geostrategic context, enlargement is an investment in peace, security, stability and prosperity. The panel discussion will assess the current situation and possible ways ahead, incorporating the experiences of Spain and Portugal 40 years after their accession to the EU.
The discussion will be moderated by Anne Sophie Allarp, journalist, author and commentator. The panel will share the visions of enlargement from northern and southern Europe and the challenges ahead.
